My Review of Chatha Pacha: The Ring Of Rowdies!!!- (⭐⭐⭐⭐/5)

ARE YOU READY FOR FRIDAY FIGHT NIGHT?!
A stylish, bonkers WWE-style Malayalam action comedy that plunges you into this unhinged world of costume wrestling. I went into this film barely expecting anything due to it's debut director and fairly new cast, but shattered all my expectations and delivered a high-voltage fighting film alongside a moving tale of friendship and brotherhood that left me with a huge smile plastered to my face and a body rushing with adrenaline. IT'S SHOWTIME!
The plot is fairly straightforward: three brothers who establish an amateurish, WWE-inspired underground wrestling community and host "Friday Fight Nights" to their local audience in Kochin. But what happens when blood ties, personal agendas and revenge gets in the way?
The film immediately kicks off with a high-octane first act, clearly establishing the lore and character dynamics while allowing us to fully grasp this crazy, revolutionary idea of bringing a wacky Western concept to a community of narrow-minded people. The pace and insanity are properly sustained throughout the second act, showcasing racy fights oozing in Anen C Chandran's signature style and enhanced by Praveen Prabhakar's fast-paced editing that never even lets you breathe.
Performance wise, Arjun Ashokan absolutely stole the show, effortlessly switching from laugh-out-loud comedy scenes to intense fights and even emotional moments. The supporting cast comprised of Roshan Matthews, Ishan Shoukath and the rest of the ragtag crew brought strong performances that perfectly fit the roles written for them (especially the little girl that played Rosamma). The highlight of the supporting cast definitely has to be Pookie Cherian played by Vishak Nair, who switches from a fun, goofy caricaturish villain to a more evil and manipulative role in the second half.
Mujeeb Majeed's pulse-pounding score perfectly complements the introduction to each character and their individual fight scenes, making each scene tactile and so kinetic that you can almost feel the punches through the screen. I do wish Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's soundtrack was a bit more powerful and had separate introduction songs for each of the main characters, but the score made up for it. I also wish that the cameo was executed a little better as it felt like it was rushed and flat for me.
All in all, a fun entertainer that will have you searching for the next show as you step out of the cinema. What a wild ride man!
